In the past ten years, great changes have taken place in my hometown. In the past, there used to be old houses. The river was very dirty. The roads were narrow and the living conditions were hard. The Population Problem
The population is one of the biggest problems in the world today. China has the largest population with 1.3 billion. It’s about one fifth of the world’s population. A large population causes many difficulties, not only for every family, but also for the whole nation. It has become a serious problem. In many less developed areas, some parents prefer boys to girls. As a result, many girls can’t go to school.
I think we should do something to control the population. One answer is known as the one-child policy. It has worked well in controlling China’s population.

中國(guó)的萬里長(zhǎng)城被稱為“萬里長(zhǎng)城”。事實(shí)上，它有6000多公里長(zhǎng)。它蜿蜒地從西向東，穿過沙漠，越過高山，穿過山谷，直到最后到達(dá)大海。它是世界奇觀之一。
長(zhǎng)城有二十多個(gè)世紀(jì)的歷史。它的第一部分是在春秋時(shí)期建造的。戰(zhàn)國(guó)時(shí)期，有更多的城墻被用來保衛(wèi)不同王國(guó)的邊界。正是在秦朝，秦國(guó)把帝夫的發(fā)福部分統(tǒng)一為一個(gè)帝國(guó)。為了把敵人趕出他的帝國(guó)，秦始皇把所有的城墻連在一起。于是，長(zhǎng)城誕生了。
長(zhǎng)城的寬度足以讓五匹馬或十個(gè)人并排走。沿著墻的是瞭望塔，士兵們常常在那里守望。當(dāng)敵人到來時(shí)，在塔上點(diǎn)燃了火作為警告。
在古代沒有任何現(xiàn)代機(jī)器的`情況下，很難建造這樣一堵墻。所有的工作都是手工完成的。成千上萬的人死了，被埋在他們建造的城墻下。長(zhǎng)城不僅是由石頭和泥土建成的，而且是幾百萬人的血肉所組成的。
今天，長(zhǎng)城不僅對(duì)中國(guó)人，而且對(duì)來自世界各地的人都有興趣。他們中的許多人都知道中國(guó)著名的諺語:“沒有到達(dá)長(zhǎng)城的人不是真正的人。”
